How to Play a Tibetan Singing Bowl?

It is actually relatively easy to play a Tibetan singing bowl; however, it does take some time to get a hang of it. There are broadly two ways to play a singing bowl.

Striking: Strike the singing bowl with a mallet. It creates a bell like sound.

STEPS:

-Place bowl on the cushion or palm, make sure your fingers do not touch it on any sides.
-Hold the striker and gently swing it and strike it near the upper edge.
-Try it out in different environments and location.

Rubbing: Take your mallet and rub the wooden stick on the bowls' rims. It will create a reverberating musical tune.

STEPS:

-Hold the striker against the upper edges (rims) of the singing bowl and slowly run it around with even pressure.

-Try it by changing the position of the striker and speed to discover the variance in the sound.

Perfecting it is a matter of practice and perseverance. When you’ve mastered it well you can also learn how to use it for healing too. So, just keep learning, practicing and perfecting until you master it well.
