Chakra Healing Therapy

-USES OF SINGING BOWL-

I was at a local Vihar where my grandmother attended her weekly Buddhist prayer. I had reached a little early and waited for her outside. I watched her with other people in the room, immersed in devotion as they sang hymns and clapped with their eyes closed. After some time the Vichyu leading the procession called upon a man and placed a singing bowl in front of his forehead. Later after the procession I asked my grandmother why the Vichyu was using the bowl on the man. She told me that the Vichyu was trying to help the man heal faster as he was unwell.

The use of singing bowls by healing practitioners is quite common. The sounds and vibrations generated by Tibetan Singing Bowls are a type of energy medicine that promotes healing and helps relieve stress disorders, pain, depression, etc. They create a range of sound to restore the normal vibratory frequencies of diseased and out-of-harmony parts of the body, mind and soul. Unique tones produced by singing bowls affect different chakras and creates the perfect state for deep meditation, creative thinking and intuitive messages.

Chakras are the psychoactive energy centers in the human body. These are directly associated with our physical, mental and emotional health. There are many chakras in the human body but only seven of them constitute the main energy centers. The physical manifestation of each chakra is through specific glands/nerves in the endocrine system and the nervous system. An imbalance in the chakras is expressed through these systems resulting in physical and internal illness.

First Chakra

Second Chakra

It corresponds to creative, productive and emotional expression of life energy and manifestation. Also known as the Warrior's Chakra, this chakra also represents our ability to relate to the world and have healthy relationships. Third Chakra

Note E Bowls are used for the 3rd/ Manipura/Solar Plexus Chakra, located near the diaphragm and is the psychic chakra. It corresponds to personal power, creative and intellectual thoughts. Related body areas and organs are stomach, solar plexus, and liver. Color: Yellow Use E note bowls to balance this chakra.

Fourth Chakra

Note F Bowls are used for the 4rth/Anahata/Heart Chakra, located near the heart and is the love energy chakra. It corresponds to communication, speech, and social abilities. Fifth Chakra

Seventh Chakra

The Seven Chakras: 

However different singing bowls have different effects on different people. There is no one bowl that corresponds specifically to a certain chakra. A particular bowl might work on one person, but not on another person. As we are all different, so are our energies. It is a matter of experience to find out what the singing bowls you happen to have will do to other people or to yourself.

We are dynamic beings and change over time, with our needs and preferences. So, one needs to remind oneself to be aware of ever changing energies in oneself, others and in one’s environment. On the other hand, remember that your intentions in using the bowls can affect the results.
